My daughter, Shontay is going to recite it for a Black History program next month. It is one of my favorites. There are some parts that seem a bit mature for an eight year old to say, but it's still a great inspirational poem. What do you think? It would be a blessing if Maya Angelou could come and recite the poem herself. The program is being given by an after school care program at the YWCA. The children range in age from 5 to 12 years.
